V. Professional Dispositions

Dispositions and Attitudes

This form was filled out by my university supervisor and I. It showed that I am "Achieving" the dispositions and attitudes necessary. The area I need to work on is attending professional development opportunities, which I was unable to do during my undergraduate and graduate educational experience due to insufficient funds. I'm hopeful that as I begin work in the field, I will be able to attend both VMEA and Midwest.

Evaluations

Below are evaluations from my elementary placement, fall student internship, and spring student teaching experience. As a professional teacher, evaluations and observations are a part of the job and are also a great way to improve in the field. Thankfully as a student, I have the opportunity to be observed and evaluated many, many times. Taking that feedback and turning to positive improvement is extremely important. The below evaluations show that I meet expectations in my overall professional disposition.

Music Philosophy and Rationale

As a music educator, it is very important to know and understand our part in the public education system and what benefits we bring to students. Attached is my music education philosophy, how music should be taught and what it looks like, and my rationale, why music education is important to the public education system.

Log of Hours

Experience is important part of being a successful and confident teacher. Through my student teaching experiences I've become more confident and successful at teaching, preparing me for the field. I completed over 250 teaching hours and over 500 hours total time present during my graduate year student teaching experiences. During these two experiences, I taught middle and high school students. The classes I taught included: 6th grade band, 7th grade band, 8th grade band, middle school jazz band, marching band, high school concert band, high school symphonic band, and high school jazz band. I also attended faculty meetings, in-service training, field trips, marching band leadership training meetings, graduation planning meetings, Tri-M meetings, All-County band, and CCAP Jazz honor band (event and planning meetings).
